SANTE FE CATHOLIC PARISHES HAND OUT CANDIDATE EVALUATIONS FROM
PRO-LIFE GROUP
Non-partisan candidate evaluations on moral issues promote informed
participation
SANTA FE, October 22, 2002
(LSN.ca) - The Archdiocese of Santa Fe has sent a pro-life candidate
evaluation to all its 92 parishes. The archdiocese invited the
parishes to distribute the flyer, which was produced by Right to Life
New Mexico.
Media reacted negatively to the move since the flyer noted that
Democratic candidate for governor Bill Richardson showed a lack of
respect for human life while his Republican opponent John Sanchez was
pro-life.
Jim Hughes, National President of Campaign Life Coalition Canada
praised the cooperation between the pro-life movement and Churches.
"The non-partisan stance of the pro-life movement enables churches to
unabashedly promote informed participation in elections by their
congregations on the most important moral issues in society today,
especially the right to life," said Hughes.
