Swedish Teen Bleeds to Death After Using RU 486 Abortion Drug by Steven Ertelt The girl, from western Sweden, was seven weeks pregnant at the time, and was given the abortion drug, which is called Mifegyne in the Scandinavian country. Unlike in the case of Holly Patterson, the Swedish girl was kept at the facility for eight hours for observation to make sure no excessive bleeding occurred. Patterson was given the abortion drug by a Planned Parenthood facility to take at home with no medical supervision. Two days later, a nurse attempted to check up on the teenager but could not reach her. Six days later, authorities discovered the girl at home dead. There is no word on whether the teen lived by herself or with anyone else. A local medical examiner established the cause of death as extreme loss of blood related to the abortion. Johan Lundell, of the Swedish pro-life group JA till Livet, told LifeNews.com that the death occurred in late 2003 and is only being reported now. According to the French Press Agency, authorities say all of the country's rules were followed in the case -- which prompts pro-life advocates to point to the inherent dangers associated with the abortion pill.
